Jumping the Broom

This is the one regret of my wedding.

I did not add the jumping of the broom to end of the ceremony. Honestly, I thought big dress, four inch heels, accident prone personality.

I did not think I was going to make it.

Jumping over the broom dates back to the days of slavery when it was illegal for African Americans to marry.

You simply place a beautiful decorated broom on the floor and jump over it into your new life as husband and wife.
